New Agers Find Jesus in Switzerland

NEW AGERS FIND JESUS IN SWITZERLAND

"Some 35 New Agers found Jesus during the few days of the PSI Fair in Basel, Switzerland," reports pastor Daniel Hari. The PSI Fair, also known as the 'World Congress for Spiritual Healing', took place at the end of November 2004, and claims to be the world's largest event of this kind. Hari and Stefan Driess of Manchester, UK, rented a stand in the exhibition hall with the title 'Christocentric healing', at which they held healing demonstrations every hour. Hari explained that Jesus Christ can still heal today, and invited the visitors to experience this for themselves. "After simple prayer, we saw a whole series of healings. People felt a sudden warmth, symptoms vanished, and a large number were interested in learning more about Jesus, including many who wanted to get to know Jesus." ...

CHRISTOCENTRIC HEALING
In mid-November 2004, Hari held a seminar about 'Christocentric Healing' in the Italian-speaking part of Switzerland, during which almost all the New Agers attending found Jesus. Fourteen were immediately baptised, including a leading Swiss figure in an internationally known sect. Almost all of the participants experienced some form of physical healing or release from an addiction. Hari, who always encourages people who have experienced a healing to immediately pray for others, reports that one woman called her mother, who was immediately healed after prayer on the telephone. The mother prayed for her husband, who called back a few hours later to report in astonishment that his hearing had been miraculously restored. An ex-pastor in an Evangelical denomination who had lost his faith in Christ and become a spiritual healer returned to Jesus during the seminar, and was freed from excessive smoking overnight.

MAKING JESUS NUMBER ONE IN THE HEALTH SYSTEM
"Heal the sick, cleanse lepers," Jesus told his disciples. Leprosy was an incurable disease in Jesus' days. Today, its place has been taken by AIDS, cancer, rheumatism and the dramatic increase in chronic pain, and an apparently incurable cost explosion in the health system. ... If people were healed in New Testament times, they had to "show themselves to the Priest," who would decide whether they could return to their family or remain isolated. "Today, this function is fulfilled by doctors and psychologists," says Hari. Jesus heals today, and that includes so-called 'incurable' illnesses. The number of healings is also increasing in the Western world ... That makes it important for healing ministries to work together with doctors who can scientifically verify the healing. If 5-10 medically well documented healings of each particular illness could be collected and published in the Internet, it would be possible to wake public interest and "make Jesus a top address in the health system," says Hari.

CAN WESTERN CHRISTIANS BE HEALED OF THEIR UNBELIEF?
Just as the father in the New Testament began to doubt Jesus and his power because of the disciples' inability and lack of faith (Matthew 17), many people today do not believe in Christ because of Christians' behavior. Although it is clear in the New Testament that Jesus' rule was to heal, deliver and save with very few exceptions, the practise in Western Christianity is exactly the opposite. We experience, expect and believe Jesus to only heal in exceptional cases. The result is that the Gospel and Jesus Christ are not taken seriously. We must return to healthy Biblical standards; doing so would have an effect we cannot even begin to estimate.

Hajj Prayer - PTAP

Thank you for your last email. I was pleased to see that you asked us to pray for the millions of pilgrims who go to Mecca and Medina during the Hajj Pilgrimage, that they would be disillusioned with Islam and the empty rituals.

I have prayed along the same lines for years, that all the pilgrims would see that at the heart of Islam there is nothing. It is a black stone, black outside and black inside because there is no light; and where there is no light, it is a law of nature that there can be no life; and where there is no life, there cannot be any love or joy or peace. The Ka`aba is symbolic of the whole religion, black, dark, lifeless and dead. So I have prayed that all the pilgrims would realize this, and think, "there must be more to life than this", and seek out the gospel and Christians and Jesus, the light of the world. There have been some who have done this, but we need to pray that there will be millions more.

Yours for the kingdom,
- A.D.

Matthew 10 Today: And He sent them out two-by-two

The idea is simple: send some Christians on the road for six weeks, to speak with people, pray with them and invite them to evangelistic healing meetings - just as in Jesus' day. That was the idea behind 'GEH + 04', a Swiss initiative that took place in the Summer of 2004 ('GEH' is German for 'GO'; the letters stand for Gebet (prayer), Evangelisation and Healing). As a result, many people experienced physical healing, came to faith in Jesus, and some Christians were reconciled with one another, according to a report published in December 2004. A few excerpts from the report:

"One man came to the meeting in Lancy on crutches. He had already had three operations on his injured knee, and a fourth was scheduled. He was
spontaneously healed through prayer; he dropped his crutches, and helped
clear the chairs away after the meeting."

"One GEH + 04 group worshipped Jesus in a Catholic church in Schwyz. One woman noticed another woman sitting in a pew, crying, and quietly hugged her. The visitor turned out to be a German tourist who had received a tract titled 'Where are you, God?' from another GEH + 04 group. The question drove her to church. In prayer, the woman found Jesus and was delivered from demonic bondages."

"At first, guests in the Naefels railway restaurant made fun of the Christians holding a service in front of the restaurant. Later, though, during the sermon, many had tears in their eyes. Several people decided to follow Jesus right in front of the restaurant, including two Iraqis and a man who said that he was beyond forgiveness, because he had killed someone. He was going to be baptized two weeks later."
