Transformation

Justin Long's "Prime Factors" of human existence based on the Gospel of Matthew:

These occur to everyone, at least once in their life, if not daily, weekly or monthly:
- hunger
- thirst
- need protection from the environment (shelter/clothing)
- sickness/wounds
- learning
- thinking
- trading/investing/earning/commerce/farming/etc
- communicating with & relating to other people
- dreaming, imagining, inventing, planning
- having emotions and feelings
- hoping for something better
- have a sense of God or the divine
- get tired
- travel
My theory is that, when a collection of people are transformed, every single one of these factors will be transformed as well. Life in the Kingdom must be different from life in any other place. Realizing that we will never have "ultimate Kingdom utopia" until Christ reigns, nevertheless we should be moving closer to that ideal since we should be living as much as possible as we would in that day.

Mother's Day

Mother's Day Proclamation
penned in Boston by Julia Ward Howe in 1870

Arise, then, women of this day!
Arise all women who have hearts,
Whether your baptism be that of water or of tears
Say firmly:
"We will not have great questions decided by irrelevant agencies,
Our husbands shall not come to us reeking of carnage,
For caresses and applause.
Our sons shall not be taken from us to unlearn
All that we have been able to teach them of charity, mercy and patience.
We women of one country
Will be too tender of those of another country
To allow our sons to be trained to injure theirs.
From the bosom of the devastated earth a voice goes up with Our own.
It says, "Disarm, Disarm!"
The sword of murder is not the balance of justice!
Blood does not wipe out dishonor
Nor violence indicate possession.
As men have often forsaken the plow and the anvil at the summons of war.
Let women now leave all that may be left of home
For a great and earnest day of counsel.
Let them meet first, as women, to bewail and commemorate the dead.
Let them then solemnly take counsel with each other as to the means
Whereby the great human family can live in peace,
Each bearing after his own time the sacred impress, not of Caesar,
But of God.
In the name of womanhood and humanity, I earnestly ask
That a general congress of women without limit of nationality
May be appointed and held at some place deemed most convenient
And at the earliest period consistent with its objects
To promote the alliance of the different nationalities,
The amicable settlement of international questions.
The great and general interests of peace.

Mission Myth - Tiranus

If you receive the following e-mail, please note that it is not genuine. It is part of a prayer letter that was sent out a year ago. It has been doctored. The contact e-mail address is NOT real. This is an address created by the person who is using pretenses. At the end of the "doctored" e-mail below are the details of the Akbank Account number. This is NOT a genuine account. It is a US Dollar account in the name of Ilker Cinar. Ilker Cinar is the person who has gone on national TV telling lies about so called Missionary activities in Turkey. He vowed that he would do everything in his power to cause harm to missionaries. He has also written a book full of lies about many people.

FALSE EMAIL FOLLOWS:
"Many of you may have received a letter explaining the new direction of Tiranus. But for those of you who didn't, we want to explain how the Lord is leading us and a part of our new plan. After much prayer and evaluation, we have made some decisions in order to make a better use of God's resources for the purpose of serving more churches and a greater number of people in the Turkish speaking world. Tiranus seeks to continue with its emphasis on Biblical training, but without the residential element here in Selçuk. Now that we have closed the resident school program, we believe that God wants us to expand and multiply our efforts to see a wider base of ministry."

AEIOU - Lebanon

April 10/40 Window Prayer Focus: Christians Wary of Lebanon’s Political Crisis

In the wake of the recent assassination of a key Lebanese leader, Christian leaders in Lebanon are asking Believers worldwide to pray that the sensitive situation in the Middle Eastern nation won’t deteriorate into a civil war.

On February 14, a massive bomb rocked Beirut, killing former Prime Minister Rafik al-Hariri and nine other people, the Associated Press (AP) reported. Many more were injured, including Dr. Basil Fleihan, former minister for economic affairs and the sole representative of the Protestant church in the Lebanese Parliament.

Fleihan was severely injured in the attack, which sent shock waves throughout the Middle East and around the world. A Sunni Muslim, Hariri was the nation’s most prominent politician.

“Hariri [was] the one national leader that really had the respect of all the people, Christians and Muslims, even though he was a very convinced and strong Muslim,” Baptist World Alliance’s Denton Lotz said. “He was one of the men that really defended religious freedom.”

Hariri’s killers remain unknown, but the bombing was widely blamed on Syria, which keeps about 16,000 soldiers in Lebanon and controls its neighbor’s politics through a vast network of intelligence agents, “The Los Angeles Times” reported. After the assassination, Lebanon’s Syria-backed administration collapsed following massive street protests by thousands of Lebanese.

However, pro-Syrian President Emile Lahoud reinstated Prime Minister Omar Karami, who was forced to resign on February 28 by the giant opposition protest. Lebanon is scheduled to hold parliamentary elections this spring. Election dates have not yet been set, but the current parliament’s mandate expires May 31, the AP reported.

U.S. President Bush has demanded that Syria pull its troops out of the country and allow free elections in Lebanon, which is battered from its 15-year civil war and dominated by its stronger neighbor. “All Syrian military forces and intelligence personnel must withdraw before the Lebanese elections for these elections to be free and fair,” he said, the AP reported. “Freedom will prevail in Lebanon,"

Pray for:

The family of Rafik al-Hariri to receive God’s peace and comfort. Pray for their salvation. Thank the Lord that Hariri had a legacy of friendship with Christians and desired to protect their freedoms. Pray that this legacy continue and increases in his absence.

The recovery of Dr. Basil Fleihan, who was severely injured in the bomb attack that killed Hariri.

The situation in Lebanon not to deteriorate into civil war.

Peace to flood Lebanon to quiet the schemes and plans of disunity and hostility.

The Lebanese election to be fair and peaceful. Pray that the new government will be comprised of God-fearing officials who will support religious freedom.

Significant changes to take place in the spiritual realm of Lebanon and for Lebanese Believers to see these changes to be reflected in the political scene.

Christians and Muslims to come together and recognize the need for reconciliation and peace.

Confusion to envelope any groups that would seize the moment of political unrest in Lebanon to cause harm to another.

The Christian Church in Lebanon to rise to the occasion and show wisdom and leadership in the coming days.

God’s purposes and plans that He has laid out for Christians in Lebanon to continue unhindered.

Cordial Greetings to you from, Hungary.

I think people in California don't know what Hungary is at all. It is the name of a Central European country about as large as the state of Indiana. A very silly stupid crazy country. I just hate to live here and am ashamed to be a citizen of such an inglorious shoddy riff-raff. Anyway, my message is to you: Be proud to be American! Yesterday evening I heard on my radio a nice Christian-minded voice and decided to make a friendly approach to you because I myself am a lover of the Lord Jesus. By the way, my age is 66 years was born July 25, 1938. Now retired, previously a bus driver. All my family is dead. Alas, so I must live in loneliness. The Holy Bible is my most loved book.

Please, be so kind send me if possible at all, a newspaper or booklet, or etc. will be welcome, and thank you!!

Best wishes,
from Paul

I was in Iran in 1979 just after the Islamic Revolution began. The situation for Christians has become worse, but God...

...God is moving among Iranian Muslims. Muslims from Iran are coming to the Lord at a faster rate than in any other Muslim country. I visit some great Iranian churches in California and many were MBBs. I met the widow of Pastor Haik, the former General Superintendent of the Assemblies of God church in Iran. When I speak in churches I often tell his story. You can read it at this link:

We would like to have MBB churches like that in Dearborn, Michigan some day. Pray for us as the Lord reminds you. Nothing is impossible with God! If we have much success in leading Muslims to Jesus there will be persecution.

PTAP: Prayer Request Received

An email was received requesting prayer & freedom for those connected with the prisoners as well. The situation is pretty dreary! Families are shattered. Lives are at stake! - Mert

PROMINENT PASTOR DISAPPEARS IN ASMARA
Eritrean ambassador labels evangelicals ‘terrorists.’

March 22 (Compass) -- A leading evangelical pastor disappeared off the streets of Asmara four days ago, presumably detained by Eritrean security forces and jailed at some unknown location.

Kidane Weldou, a senior pastor of the Full Gospel Church in Asmara, was stopped and apparently taken into custody by Eritrean security forces at mid morning on Friday, March 18. His vehicle was left abandoned near the Cinema Roma off Sematat Avenue in the heart of the Eritrean capital.

According to Release Eritrea, a London-based partnership advocating for the persecuted Eritrean church, Weldou was driving a church-owned pickup truck at the time of his disappearance.

For the past four days, Weldou’s family and church members have been unable to learn anything about the pastor’s whereabouts or the charges under which he is being held.

RCI Cyberjournal
"Radio Canada International" <cyberlettres_internet@radio-canada.ca>

Above is a news source for those who are interested, it was received from a one time visitor to the house here, Mrs. Peters.

Much seemed either of national or international news. However, this one item struck me as interesting:

=====
OTTAWA: CANADIAN POLICY PAPER FINALLY EMERGES
The Canadian government has published a policy paper outlining Canada's role in the world that was 16 months in the drafting. Its focus concerns four federal departments most affected by globalization. The document recommends that Canada expand its presence outside its borders in several areas. The paper says that twice as many Canadian diplomats as are now posted abroad must be so. And it says the military has to double its capacity to function outside Canada by twice over the next five years. In the federal budget last February, $12.5 billion in supplementary funding was provided for that purpose. The document also wants the federal government to improve ties with the U.S. and to become more aware of the threat of international terrorism. The document also suggests limiting the country's foreign aid to 25 nations where it can do the most good. Many of the paper's details had already leaked over the past few months. The three opposition parties represented in the House of Commons criticized the policy paper for several reasons, including its alleged failure to talk about human rights abuses in the
world, including in China.

... hmm ... again, lots of cheap stuff from China, but not really addressing some issues that will, I believe, lead to the same issues which James addresses: The result will mean environmental disaster!
