HOPE, PRAISE, AND PRAYER FOR MOTHERS who are facing great difficulties.

ROMANIA: Most of the people are in poverty because of the reluctance of the government to improve the resources of the country. Many Romanian mothers and fathers have found it necessary to relinquish their children to orphanages in hopes that the children will have food. This is changing! Today groups like World Vision have provided the Romanians with much needed tools, seeds and animals so they can farm. This has provided food for many families so they do not have to give up their children! Another great feature of these programs is that as the animals reproduce and food is harvested the people can share with other families!

Approximately 88% of Romanians identify themselves as Orthodox Christians, but only about 3% have taken their religion seriously. The majority have had almost no exposure to the Bible. Despite opposition, the evangelical movement is beginning to grow and more Romanians, especially mothers, are making a commitment to living their lives as believers. There have been significant reductions in alcoholism, prostitution, domestic violence and substance abuse. Pray for these mothers and other Romanians that their lives will be submitted to the Lord.

Child-Mothers in Uganda and Sierra Leone:
Civil war rebels abducted thousands of young girls in these African countries. Many of these abused girls, only 15-23 years old, have escaped and returned to their villages with babies. Through Gulu and World Vision, special projects have successfully started to help these young mothers. The programs give them medical assistance, vocational training and psychological help. Many of these girls have found comfort, healing and hope from caring Christian believers. They no longer feel rejected and abandoned. Please pray for these girls and those who are helping them.

PRAYER IS BEING ANSWERED FOR Widowed Mothers and other women IN AFRICA; ASIA; SOUTH AMERICA, and THE MIDDLE EAST. These women also have found hope through Christian-run programs like World Vision. They are given sewing machines, job training and small business loans so they can provide for their children. When the women begin to earn money, they pay back their business loans so other women can receive loans. Pray that the Lord will bless these programs.
