EMAIL RCVD: The Rock.

One of the few verses I learned as a boy was:

Matthew 16:15-18

He saith unto them, "But whom say ye that I am?"
Simon Peter answered and said, "Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God."
Jesus answered and said unto him, "Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven. I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it."

The church that Jesus builds is on the rock of Himself not _Peter_...! Be a member of the church that Jesus builds by believing in and confessing Jesus as the Christ, the Son of the living God. Be saved today!

QUOTE: Leaving a Legacy - Rich Mullins

“If my life is motivated by an ambition to leave a legacy, what I would
probably leave is a legacy of ambition. But, if my life is motivated
by the power of God’s Spirit in me and the awareness of the indwelling
Christ, if I allow his presence to guide my motives, that’s the
only time I think we really leave a great legacy. I hope I would
leave a legacy of joy - a legacy of real compassion.”

Rich Mullins: A Reflection of God’s Reality, 1955-1997

As a Christian musician, singer, and songwriter, Rich Mullins
ministered to audiences around the world, had more than 90 song
recordings, and was nominated for more than ten Dove Awards by
the Gospel Music Association. “Awesome God,” one of Rich’s worship
songs, is still sung in churches across America. Yet, when fans
asked him for his autograph, Rich signed two words - Be God’s.

Rich had a passion for South America, Native Americans, and needy
children worldwide. The proceeds from many of his musical tours
went to support ministries that served these groups. Rich desired
to bless Native American children with the love of God and give
them opportunities to explore the arts. Leaving the music scene
in Nashville behind, he returned to college to pursue a degree
in music education. Rich spent the final two years of his life
living among the Navajo in Arizona. He taught music to the children
on the reservations and demonstrated the love of God to their
families. When he died in a car accident in 1997, some of the
children from the reservation attended his funeral. They sang
“Jesus Loves Me” in their native language, a song that Rich had
taught them.

AEIOU: Visions - North Africa

We continue to hear stories of people being visited in their dreams and visions. One girl tells of the night she saw a man dressed in white who promised to bring her peace. She came from a troubled home situation and the idea of receiving peace was very attractive to her.

Praise that she followed through on her dream and sought out a believer who could introduce her to the Prince of Peace. Pray for her as she grows in her new faith. Lift others who have visions that they would come to a full understanding of the meaning of this revelation.

Q&A: Islam as conquest: What merits a place in Islam?

A friend asked about "Alexander/Iskandar" the pagan Grecian conqueror being mentioned in the Quran. A Muslim acquaintance had never heard of such.

===
A. Are Abraham Lincoln, Lenin & Stalin, or Columbus mentioned in the Q
document, in the same conquistadorian vein of reasoning? Ah, but they
are post-Mo folks (though I doubt Islam would have reached the
Americans without Columbus).

B. Are any Chinese leaders mentioned in the Q document?

C. What about Indian leaders / conquerors that spread regional
ideologies before Islam hit the subcontinent?

Rhetorical questions ... but the idea of conquest as Islam / Islam as
conquest seems to keep the problem in focus rather than providing any
solution.

Here are some more sober questions:
1. How does one conquer the human heart & tongue, and their fallen tendencies?

2. What does this reveal of the uniquely Goodness of the News which we share?

When a soul savors the Flavor of forgiveness,
it knows the Father's favor in the Lord.
This is the kind of salt that
removes the rot & makes right.

In Christ Jesus the Victor,

A friend shares his thoughts:

Hebrews 13:4a
"Marriage is honourable in all, and the bed undefiled"

I spent most of my life with the teaching that Celibacy (no marriage) was best, and that a wife was second best to being a priest in the Catholic Church. I was taught wrong, and believed wrong.

Requiring celibacy is a sin. Chastity is good, but the marriage bed is a holy place. That is what my God says.
