Dishonor & Reconciliation
May 29, 2006
PRAISE:
There are very few women National believers in our country. Just this past week we learned of a woman in her late 20’s that came to faith while studying her in South Africa. She initiated contact with expatriate Christians here and is now getting discipled! We are so thrilled at God’s work of grace in her life.
PETITION:
Sandra has struggled for years with anger and hurt. She often lashes out at her children, especially Melanie recently. Both have been engaged in a vicious cycle of mutual hurt and dishonor. Sandra's tongue can do such damage to her family. Please pray that Sandra would submit to God in this area. Sandra agrees that her actions are wrong but it is so easy to continue in well-worn patterns of inflicting pain.
"Sol" and his two young boys needs to grieve and let God comfort them over the death of his wife and now his mother. Pray that God would minister a soothing balm to Sol this week and that his hope and joy in Jesus would be renewed.
"Please keep praying for healing for our 7 year old son Sami's left eye. His vision is improving but it still has a long way to go. May God get glory in his healing."
Please pray for a worker getting married this week. They will be starting married life in a very difficult country and need our prayers of protection and unity.
Please pray for a local woman who has cancer, may she be open to hearing the truth and be healed by the One who knows her best.
TESTIMONY:
Not all of Christianity is a rosy path! There are trials and bumps along the way of following Jesus. We all know that. Two young expatriate Muslim men who came to faith in Jesus together about 1.5 years ago, are experiencing some bumps and trails.
They are in hiding from family members who want them to re-convert back to Islam or to do physical harm to them. However, their recent
struggles are not related to this. Their struggles are caused by their own sinful behavior toward each other! They have lived in hiding, moving from place to place for over a year now. They have lived in many homes in 4 different cities during this time. They can’t go out during the day because they might be seen by their many relatives in the country. They can’t go out to public places – only to the desert area late at night to get some exercise and to ‘see’ something besides the insides of the 4 walls of their living quarters. They have watched many discipleship-type videos and audio tapes as they can understand in these past 12+ months. They have exhausted the ‘clean’ videos we can find. They study the Word together. They do everything together in fact! Several team members have spent time with them in study and in fun, but it is always the two guys together. They are experiencing the MBB’s version of ‘cabin fever.’ This is when you get fed-up with your living circumstances,
you are tired of staying inside, of not being able to go out during the day, to go play football in the local park or shopping in the grocery store or get out and about. This ‘cabin fever’ has sparked conflict between the two young men. One small thing has made the other one angry, and then a response in frustration has led to hurt and anger on the other one’s part. It is a family squabble so to speak.
Sounds like an obvious opportunity for discipleship and peacemaking doesn’t it? It is and we would appreciate your prayers. Please pray for the team caring for these two sincere, young MBB men. Pray particularly for the family whom they stay with and the husband who is the primary discipler of these guys. Pray for the Holy Spirit’s work in the lives of these two men that they would become mature in their faith and be able to address the conflicts in their lives in a godly manner.
