1. Pray for workers as they seek to engage the community in an effective way. Pray for wisdom in how and when they should share the good news. Pr for soft, receptive hearts on the part of the people in the cities and villages.

2. Please continue to pray for R to have the faith for healing. Her eyesight is failing, she has been to doctor after doctor over the years and had many sorts of strange treatments, and all have failed. (Shades of Luke 8:43!)

3. Pray for the peace of Tajikistan. The neighboring country of Kyrgyzstan just had a quiet revolution that overturned the government and has destabilized the country. The two countries are similar, so pray that God would give great wisdom to the people and leaders of Tajikistan to avoid the need for such a change. Tajikistan was already embroiled in civil war from 1992-97 and needs no more fighting. Pray also that new restrictive laws in Kazakhstan would not be passed and if they are would not have detrimental effects on the status of religious freedom in Tajikistan.

4. Pray for the foreign workers in Tajikistan to be good examples for the nationals (believers and non-believers alike) in the areas of speech, self-control, physical discipline, and spiritual disciplines as well. Recently one worker found that her decision to exercise and watch what she ate was used as a tool for the discipleship of a new believer. May we too learn that when we are hungry it is often for spiritual food, not just physical food.

5. Praise God that new areas are being opened up to the work among the mountain peoples of Tajikistan. This has been a slow, tedious process. But there is fruit and new doors are opening.

6. Pray that God would give his children in Tajikistan His desires for them, and that they would operate out of the things that motivate him.

7. Pray that the people of Tajikistan would stumble on the Rock of Jesus until they find out it is better to make Him the cornerstone. May this happen through their reading and hunger for the Word.

8. Pray for those organizing prayer gatherings on May 15th, the World Day of Prayer. Plan to pray along with them that God would bring spiritual awakening and breakthrough to that part of Central Asia.

9. Hope Tajikistan is challenging people to set aside a week of prayer and fasting for Tajikistan at least once each quarter. The months of emphasis are January, April, July, and October. As God leads, please set aside time for this on your calendars during each of these months and begin praying in earnest for God to work in Tajikistan among these precious people. Perhaps since the end of April is upon us, you might plan to fast the week before May 15th.

Thanks for your diligent, faith-filled prayers,
Hope Tajikistan Prayer Update Coordinator
