PTAP: Praying Through the Arabian Peninsula

Monday, May 23, 2005

Jesus was in the center of the procession, and the crowds all around him were shouting, ‘Hosanna to the Son of David! Bless the one who comes in the name of the Lord! Hosanna in highest heaven!”

The entire city of Jerusalem was stirred as he entered.

“Who is this?” they asked. – Matthew 21:9-10

Praises:

Praise the Lord that a key worker who was told he was going to have to leave the country has now been allowed to stay. Thank you PTAP for praying!

Praise the Lord that reports from Bahrain are that many tentmakers are having significant conversations with their Muslim colleagues and neighbors about the Gospel. The tentmakers are reporting a response much greater than they have experienced in the past 15 years. Keep praying PTAP!

Petitions:

Pray for reconciliation and restoration for some National Muslim Background Believers that continue to have serious marriage problems. They have made some progress only to fall back into old patterns. Pray for wisdom for the tentmakers discipling them. Pray against the Evil One who wants to draw them away from their new faith in Jesus.

Pray for the growing medical crisis in Yemen. There have been a number of cases of Polio across the country. Most of the children who have contracted the disease were inoculated previously, but inadequate health information and a poorly educated population have led to the current crisis.

Pray for guidance for 2 young, expatriate MBB men in our country. They have little time left on their visas and face very uncertain futures in their home countries. Pray that God would provide for their needs – particularly an environment where they can continue to grow their 6 month-old faith in Jesus.

Pray for the 3 small tentmaking teams in the political capital of our country. Due to extreme government restrictions, it is difficult to coordinate and support the work of each team. Pray that God would raise up someone to provide leadership and networking for the benefit of the 3 teams and improved effectiveness.

Testimony:

Huda came to faith in Jesus 3 years ago. She was in her late 20’s. Her Muslim parents thought it was past due for her to be married. She was quick becoming impossible to marry off due to her old age. At best they thought that she could be some middle aged man’s second wife. After becoming a Christian, she did everything she could do to delay her parent’s efforts to marry her off – particularly now that she was a believer in Jesus. During this time she began to attend the small predominately MBB church in her city. The leadership in the church provided love and care for her as she wrestled with her singleness and her parent’s desires. Through much prayer and leaning on God, He raised up a single, MBB man from a similar background that she was. Under the coverage of the Pastor and his wife, the two MBBs grew their love to the point where they were sure God was calling them to marriage. They were recently married and live in their capital city, growing in the maturity of the Lord. PTL! Please pray for Huda and Khalid as they are key contributors to the National church. Pray for the children the Lord gives them. Pray that they would stand firm as a National MBB family in their country. May there be many more Khalid & Hudas.
