UPGs - Pray for All Nations

PEOPLE GROUP PRAYER BUTTON
PrayerGuard.net working with the Joshua Project has come up with a cool way to mobilize prayer for the 6,900 Unreached People Groups listed under the Ethne to Ethne prayer movement. The UPG Prayer Button displays a different people group every hour, and when clicked, takes you to a 3 Minute on-line prayer session for that group. The goal is to pray through all 6,900 people groups over the next 10 months, as part of the Ethne prayer focus. By pasting a few lines of code into your website, you can mobilize prayer for thousands of Unreached People Groups.

AEIOU: Internet Searching

Often Throughout the Arab World, people search the internet and come across sites leading them to a greater knowledge of the Truth. These sites are increasingly popular and access is relatively unhindered. Computers remain expensive so the majority of people use internet cafes to surf the web, these are available on every street even in the smallest towns.

Pray for those running these sites to have wisdom as they seek to
communicate with an unseen audience, to know how to meet their
needs and to be encouraged as they work without the encouragement
of face to face contact with their audience.

INTERNET - Research for Missions

Clarence Bos <cbos@execulink.com>, Internet Missions Research
(http://www.internetmissionsresearch.com)

A growing amount of information on the web is not searchable
by ordinary search engines. This so-called "deep web" contains
up to 500 times as much information as the "surface" web. Primary
documents, such as journal articles can often be found only by
querying their respective databases one by one.

Internet Missions Research can help you find what you need and
spend less time searching. Missionaries, church planters, and
evangelists are encouraged to submit requests, especially if
they are in developing countries and lack high-speed or affordable
Internet connections.

Sample questions:

"We are thinking of planting a church in this area. What can
you find out about it to help us in our planning?"

"I would like to communicate with other missionaries in a situation
that is similar to mine. Can you help me find a discussion group
or network of like-minded people?"

To request help for missions-related questions, log on to Internet
Missions Research (http://www.internetmissionsresearch.com).
Or you might first try the Network for Strategic Missions' KnowledgeBase
(http://www.strategicnetwork.org/index.php?loc=kb), which maintains
archives of eight mission journals.

EDITOR’S NOTE: We also like MisLinks (http://www.mislinks.org),
the extensive library of links maintained by top-notch researchers
Scott Moreau and Mike O’Rear.

AEIOU - New Strategies bear Fruit (SRG report)

MIDDLE EAST: INNOVATIVE STRATEGIES BEAR FRUIT
from: Strategic Resource Group (http://www.srginc.org)
via ASSIST News Service (http://www.assistnews.net) - February 8, 2006

Christian web sites in the Middle East are receiving nearly nine
million hits per month, according to the Strategic Resource Group
(SRG) (http://www.srginc.org). One Christian organization that
hosts chat rooms for Arabic-speaking web users estimates that
more than 42,000 people visit those sites every day.

More than 2,000 Bibles in the Arabic language are being downloaded
from the Internet each month, according to Paul Schultheis, SRG
founder. One organization reports that 20 people per month are
converting to Christianity as a result of learning about the
Christian faith on these Christian Internet sites.

Although some governments attempt to block these web sites, generally
the Internet knows no borders. More than half of the population
in the Middle East is 25 years old or under. Many young people
own computers or have access to computers at Internet cafes,
schools, or through friends.

The Internet provides anonymity and privacy for anyone searching
for answers to life’s most important questions, including one’s
spiritual destiny. This technology has connected people together
through e-mail groups, networks, blogs, and chat rooms. Consequently,
people are becoming “ideological soulmates” on-line, according
to a recent Washington Post article. Christian organizations
are seizing the Internet opportunity to create communities of
people who can openly talk about faith issues in a safe environment.
