Happy Mother's Day!

This morning started with my wife dragging me out of bed so that I could get the kids together to prepare breakfast for her. We had fun. I had decided the night before to prepare biscuits with eggs and bacon. Alexis seemed surprised (she thought she would end up with just biscuits in addition to her coffee), and with all that extra time, she was able to take extra time preparing herself for church. She basked in the compliment of one of the older women: "You look beautiful today" — Alexis pointed out she said "beautiful", not "nice". She also took every opportunity to tell others about the "best breakfast I've ever had." And seemed to genuinely mean it.

This is one of her most endearing attributes, by the way — that she knows how to give a compliment with sincerity and enthusiasm.

A friend of mine has started going through a particularly nasty divorce. Particularly nasty, because I've been keeping in touch with him via email and his wife took their computer (at 4am or such in the morning), so he has been out of touch.

Its gotta be rough to have to sit down with three kids under 10 and tell them that their parent's won't be living together any more, but that's what he did. It is especially hard on him because he's been Mr. Mom for the past few years while his wife has worked.
